Max Fashion Makes ‘New’ About Art, Inclusion and Individual Expression

Max Fashion is asking consumers to rethink what “new” means with its latest initiative, Max Project New. Launching pan-India from September across Max Fashion stores, its online platform and the Max Fashion app, the purpose-led initiative introduces an exclusive festive collection curated by actor Kalki Koechlin.

A festive collection with a different creative origin

The project brings together two distinct creative traditions. One is the rich legacy of Sanganer block printing from Rajasthan. The other is the artistic expression of specially-abled artists associated with Kairassi Foundation, Chennai.

Their artwork becomes the creative canvas for the collection. The result positions fashion not simply as a retail product, but as a medium through which individual creative voices can reach a wider audience.

For marketers, the project reflects a broader evolution in purpose-led branding. Rather than communicating purpose separately from the product, brands are increasingly embedding it into the product itself.

From fashion retail to purpose-led storytelling

Max Fashion CEO Sumit Chandna describes fashion as a form of expression and storytelling, as well as a platform capable of creating social impact.

The collaboration with Koechlin extends that idea into a festive retail proposition. It also gives the brand an opportunity to connect craftsmanship, accessibility and contemporary fashion within one consumer-facing initiative.

Max Project New could also give the retailer a differentiated festive narrative at a time when fashion brands compete heavily around seasonal launches.

The Last Word

Purpose gains greater commercial relevance when consumers can experience it directly through the product, rather than encountering it only as a campaign message.
