The luggage category in India is seeing an unusual influx of brands that did not traditionally sell travel gear. HRX entered luggage in September 2025. Rare Rabbit followed in May 2026, while SNITCH launched its luggage offering in August 2026.
From Apparel Racks to Baggage Belts
The trend has now extended beyond apparel. Swiss Military introduced its dedicated luggage sub-brand, Alpine Club, in September 2026. Technology brand Acer entered the premium luggage space with Acerpure in April 2026.
The timing is notable. Travel is increasingly becoming a visible lifestyle statement. Airports have also emerged as spaces where clothing, accessories and personal aesthetics converge.
Why the Airport Matters to Marketers
For brands, luggage offers more than another product category. It creates a physical touchpoint around travel, mobility and aspiration.
An airport-ready suitcase can work as an extension of a fashion identity. For technology brands, it can also connect design, functionality and premium positioning.
The convergence suggests that luggage is moving closer to lifestyle retail than traditional travel accessories. Brands are therefore competing not only for utility, but also for visibility during journeys.
The Last Word
As Indian consumers travel more frequently, the suitcase could become another piece of personal branding—turning the baggage carousel into a new marketing runway.
