Google Brings Gemini Spark to India, Expanding AI

Google is set to roll out Gemini Spark, its autonomous AI agent, to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in India next month, according to media reports. First unveiled at Google I/O 2026, the feature has until now been available only to paid users in the US and runs on Google's Gemini 3.6 Flash model.

Unlike traditional AI chat assistants, Gemini Spark is designed to execute and manage tasks independently, continuing to operate in the background even when users are away from their devices.

From Productivity to Automation

Gemini Spark integrates with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Slides, allowing users to automate recurring workflows. The AI agent can monitor emails, organise information, draft responses, generate summaries and streamline routine administrative tasks.

One of its notable capabilities is analysing previously sent emails to create a personalised writing style guide, enabling future drafts to better match a user's communication style. Google has also confirmed that third-party app integrations will be introduced in a future update, expanding the platform's automation capabilities beyond its own ecosystem.

AI Moves Beyond Chat

The launch marks Google's next step in shifting AI from a reactive assistant to a proactive digital workforce. As businesses increasingly seek efficiency through intelligent automation, autonomous AI agents could reshape knowledge work across marketing, communications and enterprise operations.

The Last Word

The next AI battleground will not be who answers questions fastest—but who can independently complete the most valuable work.
