Dyson Reinvents Oral Care with AI-Powered CameraJet

Dyson has unveiled CameraJet, an AI-enabled toothbrush that combines computer vision, machine learning and precision oral care to redefine the brushing experience. Introduced by James Dyson, founder and chief engineer, in Paris on September 1, the device features a 100,000-pixel macro lens camera and Dyson's proprietary Gap Optical Targeting system.

AI, Computer Vision and Precision Oral Care Converge

Capturing 28 live images per second, the technology identifies gaps between teeth and delivers a targeted cone-shaped mouthrinse jet within 100 milliseconds. The initial rollout is limited to select global markets, with India launch details expected closer to availability. AI is increasingly reshaping consumer healthcare devices, intelligent personal care products are evolving from routine tools into predictive wellness platforms.

Data-Driven Engineering Signals the Future of Personal Care

CameraJet's machine learning model was trained on 470,000 dental images, while the product operates on 16 million lines of code, highlighting Dyson's engineering-first approach. The toothbrush also integrates variable sonic oscillation technology and a dual-bristle brush head featuring firmer inner and softer outer bristles for enhanced cleaning across tooth surfaces and the gumline.

According to Dyson, external testing found the technology removed up to 69% more plaque than market-leading premium electric toothbrushes in hard-to-reach areas.

The Last Word

Dyson's CameraJet demonstrates how data, machine learning and precision engineering can create premium experiences while setting new benchmarks for innovation in the connected health and oral care market.
