The CDSL Investor Protection Fund (IPF) has partnered with Amar Chitra Katha to launch The Garden of Prosperity, a multilingual animated film designed to simplify financial planning and investing for Indian audiences. By blending familiar cultural storytelling with practical money management lessons, the initiative aims to make investor education more engaging and accessible across diverse demographics.
Classic Characters, Contemporary Lessons
The film follows the iconic duo Akbar and Birbal, who guide a newly married couple on investing their wedding gifts wisely. Using the metaphor of a flourishing garden, the narrative explains essential investment principles, including goal-based investing, portfolio diversification, aligning investments with different time horizons, and maintaining an emergency fund.
The approach translates complex financial concepts into relatable, everyday situations for first-time and aspiring investors.
Multilingual Reach for Wider Inclusion
Available in 12 languages—English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia and Assamese—the film has been created to serve audiences across both urban and rural India.
According to Shri Sudhish Pillai, Head of the CDSL IPF Secretariat, the collaboration leverages the timeless appeal of Akbar and Birbal to make financial education simpler, more relatable and relevant across generations.
The Last Word
As financial inclusion expands beyond metropolitan markets, investor education is increasingly shifting towards culturally familiar, regional-language content. CDSL IPF’s storytelling-led approach demonstrates how trusted narratives and multilingual accessibility can improve financial literacy, encourage informed investing and build long-term participation in India's capital markets.
