Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Pricing Puts India’s Premium Consumer Market Under the Lens

Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Pricing Puts India’s Premium Consumer Market Under the Lens

Apple’s latest iPhone launch in India is as much about pricing as it is about product upgrades. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rs 164,900 for 256GB. The Pro Max starts at Rs 179,900. The foldable iPhone Duo starts at Rs 299,900 for 256GB.

Apple Moves the iPhone Further Upmarket

That puts the Pro Rs 30,000 above last year’s starting price. The iPhone 17 Pro began at Rs 134,900, making the new model about 22% more expensive. The Pro Max rises 20% from Rs 149,900.

Pre-orders for the Pro models begin September 12, with availability from September 18. Duo pre-orders start October 16, followed by availability on October 23. The Rs 299,900 Duo goes further. It positions foldables as an ultra-premium proposition and gives advertisers another potential platform for affluent, technology-led audiences.

What the Price Shift Means for Marketers

The Pro models retain the flat-screen design, with upgrades to cameras, processing, battery and AI capabilities. Duo introduces a completely new form factor for Apple’s ecosystem.

For marketers, the bigger signal is the willingness to push further into India’s premium consumer segment. A starting price of nearly Rs 1.65 lakh changes the audience mix, purchase journey and potential brand partnerships around the device.

The Last Word

Apple’s India strategy is moving beyond volume-led premiumisation. The next opportunity may be extracting greater value from fewer, higher-spending consumers.
