adidas has launched Originals Sport, a women's training collection that fuses the signature design language of adidas Originals with the brand's performance apparel expertise. The launch is backed by a global campaign featuring music artists Tate McRae and Emilia Mernes alongside professional volleyball player Harper Murray, reflecting adidas' strategy of combining sport and culture to engage a broader audience.
The collection includes sports bras, leggings, tanks, layering pieces and a onesie, while integrating performance technologies such as AdiSOFT, LYCRA® ADAPTIV and CLIMACOOL across selected products. Inspired by the iconic adidas Superstar tracksuit, the range reinterprets the brand's heritage for contemporary training.
Performance Meets Personal Expression
Explaining the positioning, Lisann Costello, VP Product Design Partnerships & Sports Marketing at adidas, said women increasingly expect workout apparel that reflects their individuality as much as their athletic performance. Originals Sport is designed to eliminate the perceived trade-off between technical functionality and self-expression.
The campaign reinforces a wider industry trend where sportswear brands are increasingly marketing products through the intersection of fitness, fashion and entertainment, recognising that training apparel has become an everyday lifestyle category rather than a gym-only purchase.
A New Chapter for Women's Performance Wear
As women's sports participation and athleisure demand continue to grow globally, brands are expanding beyond functional messaging to build emotional relevance through design, identity and cultural influence. Collections that seamlessly bridge performance and lifestyle are likely to drive stronger consumer affinity across both sport and fashion audiences.
The Last Word
The next battleground in sportswear is no longer performance alone—it is the ability to transform technical apparel into a statement of personal identity, both inside and outside the gym.
